Welcome to Sarawak On Line with the theme “Know Sarawak to Love Sarawak”. This blog will attempt to become the fact sheets of Sarawak hopefully to help the people to know more about the State, which has got its own peculiarities and uniqueness that make it quite different from other states in the country.
Sarawak, which is the largest states in Malaysia, is about 95% of the total land surface of Peninsular Malaysia. The state gained internal self – government on July 22, 1963 and full Independence with the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963 after 200 years of rules by the White Rajah and British Colonial Administration.
Regrettably, the state has been subjected to erroneous reporting and generally little reporting even by the main stream media like national dailies and electronic media. The situation is made worse by very negative reporting by foreign – based NGOs through the social media.
As a consequently, the Western society believes that Sarawak is still a primitive state being governed by corrupt and despotic politicians through a mediocre system while those in Peninsular Malaysia still belittle Sarawak as a backward state with some people still living on trees.
A number of relevant agencies have already given us the consent to reproduce their reports on the actual situation in Sarawak, which Sarawak On Line will endeavor to reproduce them in due course.
